BCB São Paulo Showcases National Industry's Commitment to Diverse Spirits

Emphasis on Brazilian Identity at the 4th Edition of the Event Reveals Development of Various Beverages Including Gin, Vodka, Whiskey, and Non-Alcoholic Italian Spritz

São Paulo, July 2024 – Professionals attending the 4th edition of BCB São Paulo witnessed an overview of the current state of the Brazilian beverage and cocktail industry. With a focus on Brazilian identity, the event attended individuals working in bars, restaurants and hotels, including managers, bartenders, mixologists and buyers, as well as those in the retail and distribution sectors. The event took place from July 1st  to 3rd at Ibirapuera Biennial Pavilion in São Paulo presenting several new products that soon will be available in the market.

"This year's edition highlighted the national production which in addition to traditional cachaças has developed premium-quality beverages such as vodka, gin, whiskey and spritz, allowing professionals to expand their creative possibilities reflecting the efforts of industry players to grow the sector. Meanwhile the international brands showcased their new products, techniques and technologies used in bars worldwide," explained Daniel Pereira, the event manager.

Figures

As one of the major gatherings in the sector, BCB extended to three days for the first time, dedicating the last day exclusively to business: the BCB Business Day. The event attracted a total of 3,200 visitors and 120 exhibiting brands with 420 professionals attending on the final day.

Launches

Among the launches, participants experienced the new Vodka Hype (Beg), Shochu options made from barley and sweet potatoes (imported by Nippon Bebidas); the first cachaça from Famigerada line: Raízes do Brasil; Balsámo do Cerrado, inspired by national biomes (Famigerada – a cachaça de bar); peated single malt whiskey (Lamas distillery); Cabra Lab special coffee liqueur made with three species of Arabica from São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro and Conilon from Espírito Santo (Quero Chuva); Brasilberg herb drink made with herbal fernet bitter, lemon and carbonated tonic water in a ready-to-drink 275 ml bottle (Underberg do Brasil). Also non-alcoholic highlight zero-calorie and sugar-free Italian spritz (Miden by Bacco Destilados).

Gin was also a key attraction at the exclusive space of The Gin Flavors featuring two new Argentine gin versions made with Patagonian juniper, Nativo and Alta Montaña (awarded Best Contemporary Gin at 2022 World Gin Awards) by Bosque Craft Gin. The space included brands like Maturí Tropical Syrup, Botanical Dry Gin, DL&CO – Don Luchesi Distillery, Iltico Spirits and Glee Vodka 1893.

Entrepreneurship and Management – Content

Entrepreneurship and management encapsulated the program at this year's Content Arena. The space hosted 17 talks on topics such as "How to Open My First Bar Without Money?" and also "Bar Management: Behind the Scenes and Its Challenges." Notable market figures like bartenders Talita Simões and Renato Mussa presented it.

"This year's strategy was to bring in speakers focused on business topics. The Arena was full at every performance. It was gratifying to see the audience interaction and exhibitors engaging with the topics presented," said Rafael Mariachi, BCB São Paulo content ambassador.

Exhibitors

Educational and technical content also stood out at the Campari Academy booth featuring experiences and presentations on topics like "Entrepreneur with Passion – How to Turn Your Idea into a Success Story”; "The Modern Bar" and "The Bar as a Multidisciplinary Project." The space gathered international professionals like Monica Berg, a London-based businesswoman and bartender, Alonso Palomino, a Peruvian bartender and also Mona Gallosi, an Argentine bartender and businesswoman.

The event also featured a cachaça area managed by the Brazilian Institute of Cachaça (IBRAC) with booths from four producers: Cachaça Magnífica (RJ), Quero Chuva (RJ), SôZé (SP) and Famigerada – a cachaça de bar (MG). There was also a bar reinterpreting cocktail classics prepared with the Brazilian distillate.

 

Exhibitors at 2024 edition included Choya, Bacco Spirit, Bebidas Chiamulera, Easyice, Culligan, Águas Prata, Lamas Distillery, Licor Fino Golden Massala, Melvin Bebidas, Degusto Brands, Nippon Bebidas, Família Salton, Curia Comércio de Bebidas, ABN ∞ Trading, Acquíssima, Ecobier, Água na Caixa, Drizz Gin, Azzuma, OH Spirits among others.

BCB São Paulo´s ambassador Carolina Oda highlighted the diversity of brands and attendees aiming to reinforce professionalism in the area. "Brazil is a huge country with different market needs. By meeting the expectations of each visitor looking for networking, socialization, opportunities to find new suppliers, product launches and expanding knowledge through talks, the event plays a very important role in the sector."

BCB São Paulo promoted responsible alcohol consumption, encouraged the use of alternative Transportation and provided free mineral water during the event.

2024 edition was supported by partnerships like Brazilian Institute of Cachaça (IBRAC), Bares SP,  Brazilian Association of Bars and Restaurants (Abrasel) and Brazilian Beverage Association (Abrabe) with support from the National Restaurant Association (ANR). The event was organized by RX.
