Mexico City, August 26, 2024 - With a business volume of $14 billion, IBTM Americas successfully concluded its 15th anniversary, once again demonstrating why it is the essential meeting point for industry leaders. This year, the event saw the participation of over 3,200 industry professionals, with attendance growing by 15%, who interacted with more than 450 exhibitors over the two-day event held on August 21 and 22.
Eleonora García, Director of IBTM Americas, inaugurated the event with an inspiring speech, highlighting the importance of this forum as a catalyst for post-pandemic economic recovery and innovation in the meetings industry. "This year, IBTM Americas has solidified itself as an essential platform for driving business, creating new alliances, and fostering the exchange of ideas in an industry that is fundamental to the economic development of our nations," said García.
Among the most notable achievements of this year's edition was the record number of over 10,000 pre-scheduled business appointments, representing a 20% increase compared to the previous edition. These meetings enabled participants to establish valuable contacts and explore business opportunities that will significantly contribute to the sector's growth in the coming years.
In addition to networking opportunities, IBTM Americas 2024 offered a world-class program with more than 80 sessions addressing key topics such as sustainability, event technology, and new trends in meeting management. Artificial Intelligence (AI) was prominently featured over the two days, as it is transforming the meetings and conferences industry by offering advanced tools for personalized experiences, logistics optimization, and improved decision-making.
A special mention goes to the inclusion of Baja California as the guest state of honor. The participation of this region not only showcased Mexico's cultural and tourism richness but also highlighted the vast opportunities the country offers for hosting international events. In García's words, "Having Baja California as our guest state this year was a testament to the diversity and capability that Mexico has to host world-class events in unique settings that combine modern infrastructure and unparalleled natural beauty."
Near the conclusion, the winners of the Change Maker Program were announced, which sought to strengthen positive social and environmental impact through the implementation of related activities, where Guanajuato was awarded.
