When COVID-19 struck in Russia, the team at RX Global started to think about how their events could help those fighting the pandemic at the front line – the doctors and nurses in Moscow’s hospitals struggling to contain the spread of the virus.
They came up with the idea of mobilising their community of customers and partners at Intercharm, Eastern Europe’s leading event for the cosmetics and beauty industry – and so the idea of ‘Support the Doctors’ was born.
The team reached out to manufacturers, distributors and retailers of skincare products offering to oversee the collection of any skin care and personal hygiene products they wished to donate to the cause. They then co-ordinated the collection and distribution of the products to Moscow’s medical facilities, to help carers alleviate the pain and discomfort of wearing protective masks and gloves for long 12 hour shifts.
Since the launch of the initiative in mid-April, and thanks to the generosity of over 30 contributors, many thousands of skincare products have been distributed across 30 Moscow medical facilities, helping to make the lives of their doctors and healthcare workers a little easier.
“Our core purpose as an events organiser is to help people connect” says Anna Dycheva-Smirnova, Managing Director of RX Global Russia “and here we connecting those who can help with those who need it. We hope that we will soon overcome the pandemic and that we will come out of this with an even stronger sense of connection and shared purpose within our great cosmetics and beauty community.”
