Paris, 27 September, 2018 - Investors are looking to MIPIM UK on 17th and 18th October to identify the latest opportunities in real estate. Major investors including Aviva, AXA, Barclays, BNP Paribas, CBRE Global Investors, LaSalle Investment Management, Legal & General Investment Management and TH Real Estate will be in attendance alongside delegations from international investors including Saudi Aramco, Rasameel Investment (Kuwait), Temasek (Singapore), and Chinese investors Kailong Group, Lui Chong Hing Investment and Fosun Property Holdings.
They will join the UK real estate community to hear a Ministerial keynote address for Graham Stuart, Minister of Investment at the Department for International Trade, who will open the conference to talk about the future relationship between the UK and EU, and the UK’s independent trade policy. He will be closely followed by Sir Vince Cable, leader of the Liberal Democrats, who will talk about the UK’s changing place in the world order, giving his perspective on the Brexit deal and its economic and political the implications. A panel discussion looking at UK Investment will investigate “where there is change, there is opportunity” looking at current investor sentiment towards the UK, reviewing where opportunities are most likely to be found, by geography and by asset class.
With the UK housing crisis still high on the national agenda, on Thursday 18th we will hear from Nick Walkley, chief executive of Homes England, deliver his keynote speech titled “Changing the Housing Game”. Following the recent announcement by Prime Minister Theresa May of a £2bn government fund for the construction of low-cost housing, this will be a critical opportunity to hear from the man leading the work to disrupt the land and residential funding market to increase and accelerate the supply of new homes.
Regions and cities from across the UK will be out in force, looking to attract investment and promote opportunities. Representative from regions including Invest Liverpool, Invest North England, Kirklees Council, Leeds City Region Enterprise, Marketing Lancashire, Plymouth City Council, Scottish Development International, The East and The Growth Corridor are exhibiting at MIPIM UK. The West Midlands Combined Authority Mayor Andy Street will join the Bristol Mayor Tim Bowles and Liverpool Mayor Steve Rotherham for the Mayor’s think tank on Thursday 18th October.
Completing the real estate eco-system will be the end-users and occupiers and this year MIPIM UK will be attended by companies as diverse as Renault (France), ArcelorMittal (Luxembourg), Big Yellow Self Storage, Google, Halliburton, Jaguar Land Rover and Kuehne+Nagel. A dedicated conference session will look at the future of the workplace and how workplace culture, office design and wellbeing are affecting businesses’ ability to attract and retain talent.
