MIPFormats teams with Armoza formats to launch formagination at MIPFormats the international format pitch

CALL FOR ENTRIES NOW OPEN

Paris, 25 January, 2018 - MIPFormats today announces that the call for entries is open for its revamped competition Formagination at MIPFormats – The International Format Pitch, launched under a new partnership with Armoza Formats.

MIPFormats is the specialist incubator for unscripted TV formats that takes place in Cannes, France, on 7 and 8 April, ahead of the MIPTV global entertainment content market, which runs 9-12 April.

Formagination at MIPFormats – The International Format Pitch, sees two major launchpads join forces to make formats happen on a global scale. Built on the success of the MIPFormats International Pitch and Formagination, Armoza Formats’ long-running competition, the event sets out to spot early-stage ideas with potential to make it on international screens.

Previous winners of Armoza's Formagination have gone on to find international success, with emotional docu-reality Marry Me Now having aired in Germany and South Africa and weekly social-experiment Sex Tape picked up in several major territories.

Formagination at MIPFormats – The International Format Pitch, is open to all creators and producers from around the world, under the banner of a company or not, to present their new and original, non-scripted entertainment formats. These will be pitched in Cannes to experts from Armoza Formats and representatives from leading international broadcasters on the lookout for the next big entertainment format.

Selection will be based on four criteria: creativity, originality, innovation, and potential for multiple series. The deadline for submissions is 16 February 2018 , and the finalists will be announced in mid-March. Pitching in Cannes is scheduled for Saturday 7 April 2018.

Armoza Formats is offering $5,000 in prize-money to the winning pitch, and up to $20,000 in development funding towards the production of a pilot. The runner-up will win a scholarship to the international Entertainment Master Class seminar.

“In this changing world of TV, it’s more important than ever to create a platform to foster creativity and enable new voices to be heard in the industry. By partnering with the strongest marketplace for formats and content, we hope to create a launchpad for new formats on an international level. It is the chance to take our long-running successful Formagination competition to the next level,” said Avi Armoza, CEO of Armoza Formats.

“We are delighted that Armoza, a key player in the global formats business, has put its trust in MIPFormats, the only specialist conference for the international formats community, now in its ninth edition. I’m very much looking forward to discovering the 2018 selection, which will provide a first glimpse of what’s coming next in the world of formats,” said Lucy Smith, Director of MIPFormats.

Established in 2005, Armoza Formats has become a key player in the international content market and is now one of the top independent creators and distributors of global content. With over 90 formats in its catalogue and productions across the globe, Armoza Formats has a proven track record of success across all genres, from prime-time entertainment like I Can Do That! to the hit gameshow Still Standing and docu-reality format  Connected.
