RX, the organiser behind MIPIM and MAPIC, has appointed Dan Cook as Director for the UK & Ireland Built Environment Markets.

Dan will play a pivotal role in advancing MIPIM and MAPIC, the world's premier real estate events, bringing together the most influential players from all sectors of the international property industry. Dan Cook brings a wealth of experience to his new position, after most recently leading the research and technology organisation Active Building Centre (ABC) based in Wales and Gloucestershire as their CEO and a trustee.

ABC played a critical role in the UK Government's Transforming Construction Challenge, funded by Innovate UK. Prior to that, Dan was a CEO of the Landscape Institute (LI) and Director of Strategy and Planning for the Royal Institution of Charted Surveyors (RICS).

Throughout his career, Dan has demonstrated a unique combination of strategic thinking, insightful thought leadership, and impactful contributions in both mission-driven organisations within the built and natural environment sector and government institutions.

Over the past 15 years, he has cultivated extensive international experience and a profound understanding of markets related to land, real estate, construction, nature, and energy. He is highly committed to championing climate and biodiversity action, as well as equity, diversity, and inclusion within the built environment industry.

In 2023, MIPIM had 22,500 visitors and exhibitors, a 15% increase compared with 2022, which was driven by a 25% increase in delegates from UK including a large delegation of UK city and regional leaders. It also saw delegations from Brazil, USA, Canada and Japan and in 2024 it will welcome new delegations from Vietnam and Malaysia with more to be announced, making MIPIM the only truly global real estate event.

Investors will once again be at the heart of MIPIM in 2024. At this year's event 76 of the world's top 100 investment managers, advising on €4 trillion of assets, attended the global urban festival. With 230 companies and 600 delegates, the UK is one of the top three countries at MAPIC, the leading international event gathering the retail property, leisure, food and tech communities being held in November 28-30. In addition to serving as an ambassador for the MIPIM and MAPIC, Dan will focus on fostering collaboration across the public, private, and third sectors in the UK and Ireland and help them make greater impact across RX events.

He will also work with the built environment industry to provide thought leadership on the most pressing challenges facing the sector.
