Second edition of MIP china 2018 to run 6-7 June

EXPECTATIONS HIGH FOR KEY PARTNERSHIP FORUM OPENING WAY TO WORLD’S LARGEST TV AUDIENCE

Paris, 7 February 2018 – The second edition of MIP China will run from 6 to 7 June 2018 in Hangzhou, and is poised to cement its position as a key event to open up coproduction and co-development opportunities between Chinese and international companies producing and broadcasting TV content.

MIP China aims to help global content studios find production and financing partners, sell IP and remake rights, and foster co-development deals for China and international audiences.  The event is specifically geared to help international participants meet the right Chinese development partners, in what is a complex market with some 13,000 local production companies and over 3,000 TV channels.

“Now is the time to develop the necessary partnerships for long term content development in China, the world’s second largest entertainment market. With its unique tailored format of guaranteed 1-to-1 meetings, small size, and intimate setting, MIP China offers a simplified approach to build the new relationships and content partnerships required to have a meaningful content presence in this immense country,” said Ted Baracos, Director of MIP China.

Held in the Hyatt Hotel, Hangzhou, MIP China offers a unique 1-to-1 meeting format. Every company receives a personalized agenda of up to 18 pre-arranged, 1-to-1 meetings that last 25 minutes each. For international companies, the MIP China format also includes accommodation for one executive, translation, organised networking, and an afternoon summit on 5 June.

MIP China is organised in partnership with China Media Management (CMMI-I) and operated by RX Global China.

The first edition of MIP China was held in May 2017 with 44 Chinese companies and 33 international companies from 19 countries, and 426 pre-organized meetings. International companies already signed for 2018 include ABS-CBN, All3Media, Cineflix, Eccho Rights, Global Agency, GMA Worldwide, Travel XP, Viacom, X-Media Digital, and Zee Entertainment.

“MIP China is an event of very high quality. We talked to many foreign production companies, and have a further understanding of the international film and TV market. It will increase our cooperation with international companies in the future,” said Jiali Wang, Producer, Dream Stardom TV and Culture Co (China).
