We’re proud of our diverse talent at RX – and even prouder when their achievements are recognised by their industry peers. To celebrate a bumper year of individual honours for RXers, we share their thoughts on what their awards mean to them.
Daniella Galante, Senior Digital Marketing Manager, Africa
Next Generation Leadership Award, UFI
When my line manager told me that RX would like to nominate me for the UFI NGL programme I jumped at the opportunity to apply. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet and network with some of the industry’s best. Being in Africa we often feel overlooked by the rest of the world, so it felt really great to be recognised. I am excited to be a part of this amazing programme and to fly the flag for Africa and RX globally. My passion for events is what drives me and fills my soul, so I hope to continue learning and growing in my role and get the opportunity to work on some of the biggest events around the world.”
Des Massicott, Chief Information Security Officer
“I am honoured to receive this Chief Security Officers CSO30 award in recognition for our cyber security programme and gratified to accept this award on behalf of RX, my Cyber security team, and our Exhibition Leadership Team. As we continue to build a strong culture of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Belonging at RX, I will continue my journey in improving diversity and inclusion within the wider cyber security community and help address the skills gap through mentoring the next generation of diverse cyber security talent. We have made great progress in recent years but there is much more to do. This award will only inspire me to continue our security programme in building lasting value for RX and the wider security community.”
Emma Riley, Global Privacy Programme Manager
Finalist, British Ex-Forces in Business Awards
“I joined the Women’s Royal Naval Service in 1990 and became a Radio Operator. I volunteered for sea duty having joined at a time when women were only just being allowed to serve on board ships. I was one of the few people to take their case to the European Court of Human Rights after I was thrown out of the Royal Navy for being gay in 1993 which brought about a change in the law to allow gays to serve in 2000. I was also nominated for the work I do professionally for RX and for supporting Diversity and Inclusion initiatives both in work, in my hobby, and by speaking or working with the charity Diversity Role Models.”
Jackie Williams, Event Director, USA
Women to Watch Award, Trade Show Executive
“Throughout my 13+ years at RX, I’ve had such amazing opportunities, and the mentors I’ve had – many of them women – along with the opportunities, successes and challenges have each played a vital role in allowing me to grow both personally and professionally. I am also a member of the leadership team for our Employee Resource Group – Women Connected ‒ helping to maintain the focus on gender equity throughout the organization. It’s such an honor to be a part of Trade Show Executive’s Women to Watch list. It’s an incredible group of women, each doing amazing work in such a wonderful industry.”
Kristina Rogers, Event Vice President, ReedPop
Women to Watch Award, Trade Show Executive
“Being with ReedPop for more than eight years has been a treasure both professionally and personally. I’m honored to have had the opportunity to grow my career from a volunteer position 15 years ago to leading some of the most brilliant and creative consumer events people in the world today. B2C events are a small industry, and the number of female leaders is even smaller. To be recognized by the Trade Show’s Executive Women to Watch list is a true honor that not only validates my weird little career with these weird not-so-little events, but I hope also widens the path behind me to welcome more female leadership in this space.”
Lauren Jensen, Senior Content and Community Executive, UK
Tomorrow’s Talent Award, The Meetings Show
“The Tomorrow’s Talent Award offers an amazing opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals who are passionate about the industry. It means so much to be recognised for my achievements in growing IBTM’s digital brand profile and engagements before and through the pandemic. I am very passionate about the events industry and, am keen to develop my career within the industry and build my profile to become a thought leader and respected event organiser.”
Michele Tiley- Hill, Chief Finance Officer
100 Women to Watch 2022, Cranfield School of Management
“I was unaware of the Cranfield School of Management award until Rose Thomson, RELX’s Chief HR Officer, congratulated me. I was astonished. Then, when I read the names and profiles of the women included, who come from a wide range of industries and geographies, I was even more surprised. Having had some time to reflect, I see this as an award for all RXers, especially women and finance. We are a team and one I am very proud to be part of.”
