Introducing the ‘NEXT ENERGY Pavilion’: A Roadmap Toward Carbon Neutrality and Energy Transition

A major highlight of this year’s exhibition was the launch of the ‘NEXT ENERGY ’ in Exhibition Center 2. Designed to address the challenges of carbon neutrality and energy transition, the pavilion went beyond a simple technology showcase, providing a forward-looking perspective on industrial transformation.

Korea’s Big 3 shipbuilders jointly presented under the theme “Energy Innovation Technologies”:
• HD Hyundai unveiled next-generation platforms optimized for diverse operational needs and AI-based solutions for enhanced vessel efficiency and safety.
• Samsung Heavy Industries showcased carbon-free vessel designs, including the 40K LCO₂ Carrier and 80K LH₂ Carrier, underscoring leadership in zero-emission ship technologies.
• Hanwha Ocean featured LNG carriers representing its advanced engineering capabilities and commitment to sustainable marine solutions.

The Korea Wind Energy Industry Association (KWEIA), representing organization of Korea’s wind power sector, attracted attention with a pavilion joined by key members including Volvo Penta and Seah Besteel. The NEXT ENERGY also explored hydrogen, ammonia, and LNG as next-generation marine fuels, alongside offshore wind, ESS, and other renewable technologies, highlighting an integrated approach to the energy transition.

Conferences, Technical Seminars, and Export Consultations: A Hub for Industry Insights and Collaboration

Throughout the exhibition, a series of concurrent programs enhanced the visitor experience. These included the KORMARINE Conference, exhibitor-led technical seminars, and specialized sessions such as the Offshore Wind Infrastructure Investment Forum hosted by the Korea Wind Energy Industry Association, the Autumn Academic Conference of the Korean Society of Marine Engineering, and various networking receptions organized by foreign embassies.

The KOTRA Export Consultation Program saw its largest-ever participation, with 80 buyers from 20 countries conducting customized business meetings with over 130 Korean suppliers. Dedicated consultations for ASEAN shipowners led to on-site contracts totalling USD 28 million.

Visitors gained firsthand access to the latest technologies and market insights, while engaging in dynamic networking opportunities with global industry leaders.

Outcomes and Future Outlook

KORMARINE 2025 reaffirmed its position as Korea’s leading platform for the shipbuilding, maritime, and energy industries—showcasing the full spectrum of technological innovation shaping the future.

Visitor attendance increased by more than 10% compared to the previous edition, underscoring the event’s growing global momentum.

The Organizing Committee commented:

“This year’s exhibition offered a valuable opportunity to discuss key challenges such as carbon neutrality and digital transformation. We aim to further strengthen KORMARINE’s global presence and its role as a leading international industry platform in the years ahead.”
