About the role:

This position performs moderately difficult research, design, and software development assignments within a specific software functional area or product line. The position should have the ability to work on individual pieces of work and solve problems including the design of the program flow of individual pieces of code, effective coding, and unit testing.

Responsibilities:

Frontend Engineering

• Design, implement, and maintain React-based frontend components and features of moderate complexity
• Contribute to UI architecture and component structure within a defined scope
• Write and review portions of frontend design and implementation documentation

Delivery & Quality

• Translate moderately complex product and UX requirements into technical frontend solutions
• Apply frontend coding standards, accessibility guidelines, and testing strategies
• Complete moderately complex bug fixes and UI enhancements
• Resolve technical issues related to frontend performance, usability, or integration

Collaboration & Operations

• Work closely with designers, backend engineers, and QA to align on requirements, APIs, and testing approaches
• Participate in code reviews and frontend technical discussions
• Contribute to maintaining frontend code quality and reducing technical debt
• Keep abreast of evolving frontend technologies, frameworks, and best practices

General

• Perform all other duties as assigned

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years of professional Software Engineering experience, with a focus on frontend development
• Demonstrable experience building production applications using React and TypeScript
• BSc in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Frontend Development

• Proficiency in TypeScript and React
• Strong understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and modern responsive layout techniques
• Experience building reusable, composable UI components
• Familiarity with modern frontend patterns, including hooks, component composition, and state management

Accessibility & User Experience

• Awareness of accessibility best practices, including semantic HTML and basic ARIA usage
• Understanding of WCAG 2.1 AA principles and inclusive design considerations
• Ability to build interfaces that balance usability, performance, and maintainability

Integration & Data

• Experience consuming and integrating with RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs
• Ability to collaborate with backend engineers on API contracts and data requirements
• Understanding of asynchronous data flows and error handling in frontend applications

Quality, Tooling & Delivery

• Experience writing unit and integration tests for frontend components
• Familiarity with frontend build tooling, bundlers, and package management
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing practices
• Awareness of frontend security considerations (e.g., XSS, dependency management)

Ways of Working

• Knowledge of Agile and Waterfall development methodologies
• Ability to collaborate effectively with designers, backend engineers, and QA
• Good oral and written communication skills
