Hans-Joachim Erbel addresses German trade fair industry

RX Germany took centre stage at the annual FAMA conference (29-30 June) in Dusseldorf, the first live event for the country’s exhibition industry since lockdown was lifted.

FAMA is Germany’s professional association for trade fairs and its Chairman is Hans-Joachim (HaJo) Erbel, Managing Director of RX Germany.

Addressing the theme of how to get back to business after the devastating effects of COVID-19, Hajo took to the podium on the first day saying: “Normality is slowly learning to walk again. This event is an important signal for the entire industry.”

Moderating the hybrid two-day event was Mike Seidensticker, Head of Corporate Communications for RX Germany.  In addition to the 130 delegates who attended in person, many more joined the interactive online video streams.

The German government recently paved the way for exhibitions and trade shows in the country to reopen by differentiating them from “mass gatherings”, most types of which remain banned in the country until the end of August. The 16 German states now have authority to give the go ahead for trade shows and exhibitions, based on a number of health and safety preconditions being met.
