Exhibitions are key to building economies – that was the message of Global Exhibitions Day 2020 on June 3rd, which highlighted the critical role exhibitions have to play in reconnecting markets and getting business back on track in the wake of COVID 19.
Organised by UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, GED 2020 was the fifth edition of Global Exhibitions Day and the single largest day of awareness and advocacy ever held in our industry!
Unable to gather in person, RX Global teams and individuals around the world took to social media to promote the message that face to face exhibitions are the fastest way to reconnect with the marketplace, and to share their hope and optimism for the future. Among the highlights:
RX Global CEO Hugh Jones was the first to be speak out as part of UFI’s ‘Voices of the Exhibition Industry’ campaign ahead of Global Exhibitions Day.
Our Australian colleagues created an uplifting video advocating for the power of exhibitions – all filmed and produced remotely. Mexico and Austria also produced videos promoting the industry and reflecting their excitement about re-opening their doors and helping customers get back on their feet.
RX Global in China furnished their offices with a Global Exhibition Day (GED) wall, encouraging colleagues to stop by and take selfies. They organized a GED party in the Shanghai office, together with their first birthday party since returning to work. The celebration was also put online, so even those who couldn’t attend onsite were still able to share the moment.
Our Middle East team posted a daily countdown to GED on its LinkedIn page and a collage of positive messages and images from the team on the day itself.
Reed Tradex in Thailand celebrated GED by introducing their new MD, Varaporn Dhamcharee, via a series of press briefings, emphasizing their role as a catalyst of economic recovery. And Italy put out a press release focusing on the power of exhibitions to drive growth entitled: “A global vision for local action: RX Global’ proposals for the recovery of the exhibition sector.”
