1. What did you wish to become when you grew up?

When I was four years old, I flew in a small propeller plane for the first time and after that it was clear to me that I wanted to become a pilot. Later, I didn't want to fly quite so high. Instead, I wanted to explore the depths: becoming an archaeologist was a fascinating idea. The lawyer who delivers flaming pleas in court eventually became the journalist!

2. What recent podcast would you recommend and why?

The first thing that comes to mind is the Equitana podcast for our equestrian sports world fair – particularly if you are a horse lover! Among our recent guests is Olympic eventing champion Ingrid Klimke, who will perform at our big evening show at Equitana, Essen, at the beginning of April. In the podcast we get to know her personally, accompany her through her everyday life, learn what her top horses think about her and get tips for our own training. Adding value for our customers in this way is particularly important to me.

3. If you could time travel, where would you go?

It's a difficult decision, because I've always been fascinated by the past ‒ one reason why I studied history. It's an intriguing idea to be able to drop in on the Romans and see what life was really like and I would definitely want to take a detour into the Middle Ages which were by no means as dark as many believe. Nevertheless, I wouldn't want to stay there for very long, especially not as a woman ‒ too dangerous. The Renaissance, with its spirit of optimism, would definitely also be worth a trip....

4. What do you like most about your job?

What I particularly enjoy is the opportunity to help shape, develop and implement my own ideas. This is how, among other things, the Equitana podcast and our monthly video consultation hour come about. These and other exciting formats have been created to deliver year-round, multimedia content to our audiences on a wide range of different topics including equine training and health. Our aim is to offer customers and visitors added value beyond the event itself, thereby creating long-term and lasting loyalty to the fair and strengthening the Equitana brand.

5. How do you see the future of events, post pandemic?

Shaping the future of the events industry after the pandemic is both a challenge and an opportunity. The industry has to change because the expectations of customers and visitors are no longer the same. The pandemic has shown that digital possibilities cannot replace personal contact, but can enrich and extend our face to face events. The task of trade fairs is to bring people together and create networks that give rise to something new - in other words, offer real added value. With the help of digital technology and data, we can get to know the needs of our customers and visitors even better – and target our events and products more closely to their needs.

6. What attracted you to work at RX?

At first, of course, it was Equitana and the many exciting projects and tasks that appealed to me. Over time, the content and requirements have changed and the challenge now is not only to deliver them, but also to help shape them with my ideas and creativity. However, this is only possible because I have been able to learn from experienced colleagues, rely on their support and benefit from their experience.
