Who inspires you?
In general, people who are driven and never give up before giving it their best shot. Some inspirational figures have been in my family circle, others are some colleagues around me today! My biggest Idol and inspirational character in sports is Mohammed Ali. His life story and wisdom have helped me at times to stay motivated and focused. One of my favorites is ‘Don’t count the days, make the days count!’
If you only had one album to play which one would it be?
The Beatles Abbey Road LP. I know it’s an oldie but it’s a timeless classic.
What recent podcast would you recommend?
I listen to the Joe Rogan Experience on Spotify every morning on my way to work. He always has great guests on who talk about the most diverse and interesting topics, from Elon Musk to Quentin Tarantino and many other great interviews.
If there were 25 hours in a day, how would you use your extra time?
Half an hour with my wife and daughter, who is 2 years old and is now starting to discover the world more and ask many questions. Be together, laugh a lot and enjoy each other’s company. The other half an hour with friends for a beer and football chat.
What do you like most about your job?
What I love about the industry we are in is its dynamism, fast pace and the fact that we work across many different sectors, which ensures work is never boring. On top of that, I have some amazing colleagues coming from different places around the world. I get to interact with them, achieve results and have fun. I have been here 6 years and it has never ever been dull. Even through the difficult period our industry has undergone recently, I have had the chance to acquire new skills and grow professionally.
How do you see the future of events, post pandemic?
I see the future of events as even more exciting and interesting than before. Covid-19 has undoubtedly been a disruptive element for our industry; but it has also been a catalyst for transformation that I believe will broaden the spectrum of what we do and how we deliver it.
Face to face will always have a high intrinsic value, because human interaction is a key factor in business. From what my clients tell me, they all have a huge desire to meet in person again at our shows. However, I also believe that the role of digital has become increasingly important and will blend in with live events more and more, extending their life cycle and providing more opportunities for visibility and connections.
