What is your hidden talent?

Something I regard as a hidden talent is my ability to talk multiple languages. Besides English, my native language is French and I can also speak in Spanish and Creole. Working at RX helps me to maintain my language skills as my daily duties can vary from talking French to Reed MIDEM, Spanish with RX Mexico or learning Portuguese with my friends in RX Brazil.  Welcome to global!

What TV show/movie are you ashamed to admit you love?

In my younger days, I was obsessed with Smallville. At the time my life goal was to be like Clark Kent. The only thing we had in common was that we had the same glasses, however I struggled to get the same physique.

What’s your favourite app we might not have heard of?

An app that I use every day is called “FranklinCovey Living the 7 Habits”. Back in 2018 my manager gave me the chance to attend a 4-day session about the 7 habits. The course gave me a powerful insight into how your Mission Statement is key to deciding where you want to focus your time, attention, and energy. The app provides me with daily reminders, giving me the right mentality and positive energy to start my day. I would strongly recommend attending this course as it has changed my mind set and giving me the positive and forward thinking I’ve needed to make progress in my personal and work life.

What does a perfect vacation look like for you?

An island far away, in the middle of nowhere, where there are no distractions, no loud noises and no tight deadlines. Drinking endless refills of coconut water (rather than a strong black coffee) and relaxing in a hammock.

What work achievement are you most proud of and why?

My biggest achievement in work is having had the opportunity to be involved in the rebranding of RX. This is something that will go down in Reed Exhibitions history (RX now) and I am proud to say I was a part of it.

What is the most memorable event you have ever attended, and why?

My first RX one back in 2016 which was World Travel Market. It was an amazing experience and I felt so privileged and excited to be an ambassador for Reed Exhibitions. I had the opportunity to connect with a variety of people and different cultures. It was a great experience that I will never forget.

What makes you proud to work at RX?

I am honoured to work for an organisation that gives its employees the opportunity to grow and reach their full potential. I am a committed hard-working employee but without having the right backing or great managers who took a chance on me I would have never reached this stage in such a short amount of time.

I initially joined Reed MIDEM in 2016 as a junior service desk analyst in France (hello les amis!), before moving on to work as a service desk analyst for RX corporate in the UK. I loved this job, providing a valuable service, and becoming knowledgeable and confident within my role whilst working in a new language. After expressing my ambition to one day become an engineer, I was delighted to be offered the role of Systems Engineer in 2017 and then worked up to Cloud Engineer by January 2020.

I am passionate and love to learn about new technology. IT is constantly changing, and it is up to us to keep up with it. The moment we become complacent we will fall behind. I have changed roles three times in almost six years at RX and I am excited as I am about to change roles again and embark on another journey with many new challenges!
