What’s the most courageous thing you’ve ever done?

Leaving my family and hometown for high school at the age of 16, and then going on to complete my bachelor’s degree in engineering. It was 8 years of learning about life for myself.  I then decided to leave my country, Nepal, to go to a place where I knew no one, chasing my dream to pursue a Master's degree in IT in Australia. It sounds very ordinary but I wouldn't be where I am today if I hadn’t had that courage to leave.

What are you reading right now?

I recently read "When Breath Becomes Air" by the American neurosurgeon Paul Kalanithi. Currently I am re-reading "And the Mountains Echoed" by Afghan-American writer Khaled Hosseini which I had left unfinished a few years ago. I have read most of his books since reading "The Kite Runner" back in my school days.

What’s your favourite app we might not have heard of?

During lockdown last year, I found the app "Duolingo" which is great for learning a new language.  I can now speak basic Spanish (a language I have wanted to learn for a long time). Also, Blockchain Technology is another digital platform app/web app which I think has a great future.

What does a perfect vacation look like for you?

Back home to Nepal, a trek to the mountains with my family or close friends. Nothing beats the taste of local authentic foods and drinks somewhere far away from the crowd.

What three characteristics do you need to succeed in your role?

Innovativeness , adaptability  and simplexity.  In my three year journey at RX, I have had the opportunity to work on a wide range of new global digital products. While the pandemic shook the world, it opened up exciting new opportunities in the digital space, and this was all possible due to innovative thinking, a willingness to adapt to every change, and an ability to deliver new platforms and tools to our customers in simpler formats. These are the key characteristics I need continuously to succeed at my role and I am excited by what’s to come.

How do you see the future of events, post pandemic?

While the value and charm of physical events will never fade away, hybrid and digital events will enable our clients to reach to the next level globally.

What attracted you to work at RX?

The opportunity to learn and grow. Working in a digital team means the opportunity to continually learn, by facing the many different and unknown issues that come along. RX and the team I work with amaze me with their dedication and the work we put in together on various projects and products. I am also attracted by the variety of events, and the opportunity we get to visit these events and meet different people from many different roles and regions.
