announcing the NIMBLE award winners 2022

Over the course of 2022, we had over 600 entries to our May and October local NIMBLE Awards competition.  On behalf of the ELT, thank you to everyone who nominated a fellow RXer and well done to all our winners!

Each nominee has worked to improve the ways we create and hold events, build our products, serve our customers and generate value for our business.

Our Global NIMBLE Awards recognise those individuals who made significant contributions to our business by building a culture where opportunity is open to all, and in so-doing have demonstrated our NIMBLE strengths.

So, the ELT is proud to announce our overall global winners for 2022….drumroll please….

Networked winner...

Autumn Yang, China

Leading China’s centralized Marketing team, Autumn demonstrates how to be Networked to the highest levels, using her skills to enable and improve internal cross-department collaboration as well as being the RX China point of contact for all our show teams and engaging RXPH to expand their services within the Chinese market. Her initiative taking to solve challenges across borders is impressive. Congratulations Autumn!

Runners up: Stephanie Ferey, ISG and Stephan Guder, UK

Inclusive winner...

Adam Cartledge, ISG

Adam champions LGBTQ+ issues within RX and has worked tirelessly to provide representation for members of the community and their allies throughout the business.  He also works hard to create a culture of psychological safety within our sales teams.  Inclusion is a way of life for Adam and he is always alert to opportunities to increase diversity and promote inclusivity.  Congratulations Adam!

Claire (left), Vania (right)

Claire created magic at our Interphex Korea show last year, personally inviting VIPs to the event despite the Covid backdrop, and organising the opening ceremony to universal acclaim. Her knowledge of our value adding products ensured that our clients were delighted and impressed by their participation.  Congratulations Claire!

Every project Vania touches is pure magic.  Despite not speaking English when she took on the role, Vania has been supporting the US business (as well as LATAM) and her thoughtful and creative nature means that our communications always have a magical touch.  Congratulations Vania!

Runners up: Trupti Domadia, ISG and Samantha Martin, Australia

Brave winner...

Christophe Robinson, France

Christophe defines brave.  Over 20 months, he conceived and implemented the logistics approach to the three Mondial du Batiment (incl. Batimat) cluster shows’ venue change which featured notable constraints, including a stand size restriction and City wide traffic restrictions.  He rethought how to deliver the critical build-up phase and coordinated all our internal and external partners, without ever taking any credit for himself.  Congratulations Christophe!

Runners up: Shirley Yan, ISG and Chanyanuth Chainawasin, Thailand

Love Learning winner...

Bi Liang Liew, Singapore

Bi Liang has been with RX for 5 years and in order to progress his career in digital marketing he taught himself HTML and CSS coding and took advanced Adobe design training.  Since then he has been responsible for all web design and development and also gladly supports on reg and customer service.  He’s been willing to go the extra mile to boost his skills to master all aspects of marketing and to support show teams across the business.  Congratulations Bi Liang!

Runners up: Vaughan Robertson, UK and Eleanor Bakkali, ISG

Entrepreneurial winner...

Atomu Shimoda, Japan

Atomu spotted a gap in the market and created and launched our new FEMTECH show at RX Japan, leading to a hugely successful event last October.  A man who championed a show about female health and achieved buy-in from over 300 exhibitors shows absolute entrepreneurial spirit.  Congratulations Atomu!

Runners up: Rim Belgacem, France and Tran Quoc Phong (Bruce), Vietnam

A massive congratulations to all our Global 2022 NIMBLE Award winners!

We'll be in touch with you soon to confirm details of your award.

The NIMBLE Awards will be back in May and October 2023, so look out for the launch so that you can nominate your deserving RX colleagues!

On behalf of the ELT, a massive thank you to everyone who entered our first ever Building Business Awards. We received 91 entries in total across the breadth and depth of our company, bringing to life the work you’ve accomplished throughout 2022, and it was a fantastic judging session, with much discussion and debate.

So, thank you! And now for the winners of our inaugural awards, drumroll please…

The Customer Award...

MIPCOM, France

Overall the judges were impressed by the strong showing from France in this category.  And MIPCOM came out on top, after all what does a top 5 RX show do when their biggest UK bellwether (BBC Studios) announces they will not be returning as an exhibitor after the pandemic and tells you: there's nothing you can do to change their mind?  You make them a customised offer that they can't refuse, including a brand new "Studio of Distinction Award" to honour BBC original content and creativity. The clients loved it, increased their spend, came with a record breaking 158 attendees and dazzled the show.  Customer satisfaction guaranteed.

Best Digital Innovation Award...

Exhibitor Dashboard, GTECH Global

Exhibitor Dashboard was designed to empower customers to make effective decisions for building their businesses by providing insights and opportunities for growth at our shows and beyond.

This exceptional innovation from the team is already helping us to retain more customers and increase their potential investment in our shows and products, through a transparent relationship that simply and effectively demonstrates the return on investment in our events, services, and products. It's now a staple of our Smarter Events offering and the judges can't wait to see the impact in 2023.

Event of the Year over $25M Award...

JCK, USA

Was your event magical? Did it fulfil your value proposition? Were your customers satisfied?  For the judges, JCK 2022 ticked all the boxes and then some. The theme of 2022 was celebrating 30 years of JCK and 30,000 people came to the party, featuring 1800 exhibitors representing 130 countries.  And the results?  2019 well and truly beaten across all metrics.  Exceptional.

Event of the Year under $25M Award...

All Energy, Australia

Overall the judges commented that this was a very strong category, but one entry stood out.  An extended programme that included the hydrogen and EV sectors, big bets in marketing including radio, along with an exceptional use of our digital platforms, and a partnership with the Clean Energy Council (and without customers from China), All Energy Australia delivered +20% on 2019 and 92% of attendees were satisfied. The success was built on a foundation of putting the customer first and we can truly say that we're building businesses across the clean energy sector.

Marketing Campaign of the Year Award...

IBTM, UK

Culture Creation was the theme to help an exhausted and traumatised MICE industry rise from the pandemic ashes.  The judges were impressed by the teams' insights and execution of the new campaign, leading the conversation and acquiring new attendees.  One customer summed it up best: "Our mission to use gatherings of all sorts for culture creation is more important than ever for our clients. Large corporations who may have fewer offices post-pandemic are looking for ways to maintain their unique culture, something that face-to-face events can really help forge and maintain. Our mission for IBTM this year is to find great suppliers as always, as well as those who can help us deliver creative cultural experiences for our clients.”  Job done.

Operational Excellence Award...

Logistics Strategy on MBD, France

How do you move the Mondial du Batiment (MDB) cluster of three Building and Construction events to a new venue, in the centre of a capital city that limits access and has strict new environmental laws?  You develop the perfect collaboration between Sales and Operations to create a crack logistic team!  First you standardise stand sizes to limit customisation and you take on the task of stand building for 3 of the sizes.  Then for build up and take down, you create a CCTV post to oversee and manage traffic, liaise with the City and the Police, and provide comprehensive clear information and extensive signage, starting right outside the venue and placed at the exits along the Paris ring road not forgetting to communicate extensively with delivery drivers and fitters so that they know what to do.  Throw in refreshments and goodies to keep everyone happy, and you've got yourself a huge feat of operational excellence.

Sales Person of the Year – Domestic...

Abiola Agbalaya, UK - Nadine Alden, ReedPop - Rosie Mitchell, Australia - Jatin Nehra, India

Sales Person of the Year – International...

Alina Prisiagina, ISG

It's fairly straightforward, did you exceed your sales target and did you deliver innovative value solutions to your clients?  Yes?  Then you helped to build our business.  Congratulations Sales People of the year, domestically and internationally!

Best Use of Technology Award...

ITS World Congress, USA

Conferences can generate millions of dollars in revenue, but they are time consuming and very labour intensive.  So how do you deliver an exceptional delegate experience with a small team? Enter the Cadmium tool, fully integrated into our own GBS and Atlas platforms. Following the success of the 2022 ITS World Congress, almost all 2023 US events with paid conference components will also be using Cadmium, multiplying the savings on labour and improving the overall experience for all involved at the same time.  A potential game changer!

Unsung Hero Award...

HR & Admin Team, China

With China living under lockdown for almost all of 2022, our China HR & Admin Team are our Unsung Heroes winners for their absolute dedication in supporting our people under some pretty exceptional circumstances. For example, as the lockdowns wore on and with basic supplies hard to find, our team sourced and delivered food, PPE and medication, door to door to each RXer's home.  In Shanghai, they did this 3 times. And they were also involved in organising the package delivery to other RELX businesses, including Elsevier, LN and Risk, for a total of 520 extra employees.  The judges were blown away by the extraordinary effort from the entire team under exceptional circumstances.

Highly commended: HR Team, France

Huge congratulations to all our magnificent winners!

We'll be in touch with the person who completed the entry soon to confirm details of the award.

The Building Business Awards will be back at the end of this year, so look out for the launch in Q4!
