About our Team

As part of our continued focus on creating credible and valuable editorial, ReedPop is looking for a Staff Writer to work as a key part of its flagship pop culture journalism outlet, Popverse. This role will help deliver content tailored to our audiences. This is primarily a role requiring you to write news, features, and guides, as well as constructing pages for optimized SEO and eCommerce functionality.
 

About the Role

The successful applicant will have some journalism or published writing experience. They will deliver content that covers comics, movies/tv, gaming, anime, convention culture, and more. The Staff Writer will work with the Popverse editorial team to generate compelling content to ReedPop’s committed and demanding audiences.
 

Responsibilities
 

  • Working with the Popverse team to select the right target franchises. Also insuring the best approaches, structure, and content priorities for our content.
  • Maintaining expert knowledge of pop culture content. Monitoring popularity of new and existing content across all relevant TV, film, and comics platforms.
  • Ensuring our content is structured properly for search engine optimization (SEO), eCommerce, and clarity and usability for readers.
  • Monitoring article performance and adjust content where necessary to ensure they reach the broadest audience possible.
  • Exploring and analyzing major pop culture content across many popular genres. Delivering accurate and concise content under time pressure, ensuring they meet our editorial standards.
  • Producing news content which will include sourcing information from other websites, reporting on data, and writing up press releases.
  • Hosting panels at live events, including moderating, interviewing and other duties as required


Requirements
 

  • Have an understanding of pop culture business. Knowledge of which products and content sell and appeal to audiences, latest trends and the key players in the market.
  • Be able to source and report on interesting stories about pop culture
  • Have knowledge across a wide range of genres. Will identify and focus on the highest-profile new releases and most watched content.
  • Be able to work a flexible schedule as needed with occasional weekend work relating to conventions and press events.
  • Demonstrate a great work ethic, positive attitude and team mentality
  • Be able to travel 3-5 times per domestically and internationally
  • Have experience conducting keyword research and analysis to optimize website content and improve search engine rankings
  • Have experience creating, editing, and publishing video content
