At RX, making a difference isn’t a side project; it’s how we do business. Whether we’re working in our local communities or driving global initiatives to make the exhibition and events industry a better place to work and grow, our culture of care fuels real change. Discover how RX empowers its people to create impact whoever and wherever they are.
Supporting the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals
Businesses have a crucial role to play in building a more sustainable, inclusive, and equitable world. That’s why RX is proud to align our work with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) ̶ a global blueprint for peace, prosperity, and a healthier planet.
Every year, our parent company RELX hosts an SDG Inspiration Day, a free virtual event designed to inform, inspire and ignite action around the SDGs. This year’s event, held on Tuesday 3 June, explored the role of philanthropy in closing the $4+ trillion annual funding gap needed to advance the SDGs.
Thought leaders ̶ including actor, comedian, and philanthropist Sir Lenny Henry, and 8th Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon ̶ discussed how giving, whether at the individual or institutional level, can be a catalyst for sustainable change, and how companies like ours can make a meaningful difference.
RX is a signatory to the ‘Net Zero Carbon Events’ pledge and our comprehensive and updated Roadmap to Net Zero by 2040 outlines how we will reduce our carbon footprint over the next two decades, with clear targets and transparent progress tracking. But we’re not stopping there. Through our events and platforms, we’re encouraging entire industries to collaborate, innovate, and accelerate their own journeys toward a net zero future.
Sustainability also means creating spaces where everyone belongs. In 2024, RX launched the Guide to Creating Inclusive Events—a practical resource designed to help event organisers foster environments that are welcoming, safe, and respectful of all identities and backgrounds. From accessible venues to inclusive speaker lineups, we’re committed to reimagining what events of the future can look like. In recognition of our efforts, we were awarded top honours at the 2025 UFI Sustainable Development Awards for Best Inclusion Initiative.

Enhancing our local environments
Fostering a positive work environment at RX extends beyond our office walls – which is why our UK business supports Be Richmond, the Business Improvement District (BID) focused on enhancing Richmond town centre as a vibrant and dynamic place to work and enjoy.
Be Richmond is a collective of over 330 local businesses, all pitching in to enhance our community. From sprucing up the streets with colourful planters and organising lively cultural and festive events, to supporting community safety and well-being, our combined efforts make Richmond a place where we all enjoy spending time.
Piers Kelly, Group Operations Director at RX, sits on the Be Richmond Board ensuring our voices are heard and our ideas help shape the town's future.
“Part of our company strategy is to make RX a great place to work. If we can help improve Richmond by making it cleaner, safer and more vibrant, everyone at RX benefits ,” he explained. “It’s not just about paying into a fund ̶ it’s about having a say in how that money is used to improve our surroundings. Our people can also get involved by using their RX Cares Volunteering Hours to support local community initiatives. Being part of something that makes a tangible difference in the place we’re all connected to is both meaningful and motivating.”
Event Operations Executive Emma Preston recently used her volunteering hours to support Table of Hope, a monthly invitation to a nutritious communal lunch within a safe, interactive space – reducing isolation and enhancing wellbeing. “It was an extremely rewarding experience, and I feel fortunate that my work allows me to do this” she said.
RXers also regularly get involved in litter picking initiatives organised by Be Richmond – including an intrepid team of paddleboarders who take to the River Thames to collect discarded litter and plastic as part of an annual ‘Get Onboard’ event!

Celebrating the healing power of art
Creating magical, meaningful and memorable events is something we do for our communities as well as our customers. In May, RX Philippines organised a transformative event called “Crafting Stories Through the Power of Art – Where Imperfection and Compassion Collide.” In partnership with My Children’s House of Hope, the initiative celebrated the power of art as a bridge to healing and connection.
Founded in 1995, My Children’s House of Hope provides housing, education, and medical support to orphans in Santiago City, Isabela, Philippines. Their scholarship programme has enabled numerous children to progress from nursery school to university graduation.
Led by Conference Executive Marie Caras and Supervisor Andi Dianzon, RX’s Manila office was transformed into a vibrant exhibition space showcasing artworks ̶ paintings, masks, handmade jewellery ̶ created during therapeutic sessions. These pieces expressed resilience and healing, particularly from members of the Deaf and hard-of-hearing communities and abuse survivors.
A sign language workshop, facilitated by deaf youth leaders and interpreted by Teacher Leny Rose Salazar, taught participants the basics of sign language, fostering empathy and barrier-free communication. Inspirational musical performance emphasised the power of non-verbal artistic expression. And local social enterprise Overdoughs contributed by donating art materials, supporting the Deaf community through creativity and livelihood.
With 47 participants and generous donations from attendees and remote supporters, the event underscored RX Philippines' belief that every voice matters and every story has value.
“It was incredibly moving to witness the enthusiasm of the children and the overwhelming support from the community,” said Mark Lwin, Managing Director of RELX Philippines. “Moments like these remind us of the power of shared experiences. They foster learning, build connection, and create a strong sense of purpose among everyone involved.”
Taking team action against hunger
RX Cares is our global community programme which supports employee volunteering and charitable giving that makes a positive impact on society. Every business unit can choose which causes they want to support – and for the last ten years, RX France has partnered with the charity, Action Against Hunger, which is committed to ending child hunger and providing communities with access to safe water.
“We began our collaboration by taking part in sports challenges on the esplanade of La Défense, right next to our office,” explained Anne-Isabelle Lamouche, Communication Director and Challenge organiser. “Four years ago, we launched the ‘Connected Against Hunger Challenge’ which takes place over four weeks every May and June, and we now complete the various missions ̶ running, walking, cycling ̶ through a dedicated app. These challenges are a great way for our teams to push themselves together. They help strengthen team spirit, all while supporting a meaningful cause.”
From 99 participants across 10 teams in 2022, the challenge has grown to attract 160 participants in 16 teams this year. Among them is Amrane Lamiri, Communications team member and RX Cares Champion who described the event as “a highlight of the year!”
“Every participant jumps in with full energy and gives 110% and more,” he enthused. “Some colleagues walk from their home to the office, others shorten their lunch break to get more steps in. Everyone is checking their app to check the step counts and follow the team rankings. It is a real pleasure to see so much energy and motivation being put into supporting such a great NGO.”
Over the past three years, the teams have raised more than €56,000 for Action Against Hunger, but as Portfolio Director Morgane Morice explained, the benefits go beyond fundraising: “The Connected Against Hunger Challenge is a powerful catalyst that brings together RX colleagues who might never interact otherwise. When we collectively focus on solidarity, something magical happens: barriers dissolve, authentic connections form, and we discover the incredible strength we have as one team. This shared commitment to helping those in need doesn't just change lives outside RX; it transforms how we work together.”

Creating a culture of belonging
At RX we believe that everybody should be able to succeed and grow in a business that values them. Our strategy is informed by our Global Inclusion Committees and Employee Resource Groups ̶ grassroots voluntary groups of employees who share common interests and want to support colleagues, develop leadership abilities, and contribute to a culture of belonging.
There are 10 active ERGs across RX focused on race, gender, LGBTQ+, disabilities and generational interests. From Pride marches, Black Young Professional (BYP) mentoring and hidden disability initiatives, to pregnancy support and grief counselling our ERG members are passionate about breaking down barriers and amplifying social responsibility.
Debbie McManus serves as the Education and Events Co-Chair for RX USA’s Pride ERG (Employee Resource Group), where she works tirelessly with her team to organise events that foster inclusivity in the office and the wider community. “I was inspired to get involved with the ERG by the powerful truth that support saves lives,” she said. “According to The Trevor Project, LGBTQ+ youth are more than four times as likely to attempt suicide compared to their non-LGBTQ+ peers. But having just one accepting adult can reduce that risk by 40%. Showing up, speaking out, and choosing compassion helps create a culture where everyone feels safe. At the end of the day, it’s our shared humanity that makes empathy so powerful.”
Reflecting on the recent launch of RX France’s Enabled ERG, HR Manager Sophie Chalmin said: “It all started with a passion to make a difference. We gathered a great group of volunteers who were committed to the cause and partnered with AGEFIPH, an incredible organisation in France focused on disability inclusion. Together, we’ve been able to develop structured initiatives to support employees with disabilities and foster a culture where everyone feels empowered.”
